Waves Fees

As we are an ‘Approved Provider’ families enrolled at the centre may be eligible to claim the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). To find out more about the Childcare Subsidy and to estimate what your subsidy might be, please visit: www.startingblocks.gov.au.

To claim the CCS you will need to create a myGov account. You will need to provide important information regarding your family's combined annual income, the hours of work, training, study or other recognised activity, and the type of childcare your family uses. Waves Early Learning does charge for public holidays.

A $300 bond is required on enrolment and non-refundable if you are to withdraw your child from the centre prior to commencement. A ¯Bond is refunded to families when they cease care at the end of the fourth term after all fees are paid in full. Please note that during the year if you wish to withdraw your child 4 weeks' notice is required when withdrawing your child from the centre, with the exception of Term 4 which will require 8 weeks' written notice in-order for the bond to be refunded.

Philosophy

At Waves Early Learning, we acknowledge the Dharawal people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our community. We believe that every child, family, and educator is a valued and unique individual. We celebrate diversity and respect the values, cultures, beliefs, languages, and abilities that each person brings to our learning environment. These differences enrich our community and are reflected throughout our daily practices and curriculum.

We view children as capable, curious learners on a journey of self-discovery and growth. Education, in our eyes, is one of the most empowering tools a child can possess. We aim to nurture children who communicate with empathy and respect, challenge bias, and promote fairness and social justice. A strong sense of belonging underpins meaningful learning. We therefore strive to create an environment where children and educators feel safe, valued, and inspired to express their individuality, creativity, and imagination. We believe play is the foundation of early learning. Through play, children are free to “simply be, ” explore ideas, experiment, problem-solve, create, and make sense of the world alongside their peers and educators.

Our educational program is guided by a project-based approach that encourages children to engage deeply with ideas, questions, and investigations that evolve from their interests and curiosities. Through sustained shared thinking, children are supported to develop critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills while constructing meaning about the world around them.

We also embed the 8 Ways of Aboriginal Learning throughout our curriculum to ensure culturally responsive and holistic practice. By embracing the interconnected principles of story sharing, learning maps, symbols and images, land links, non-verbal learning, nonlinear thinking, deconstruct/reconstruct, and community links, we honour Aboriginal perspectives and ways of knowing, being, and doing.

This framework supports children to connect learning with culture, place, and community in authentic and meaningful ways. Our commitment is to build a community that values children, upholds their rights, and empowers them with the confidence and skills to transition successfully to school and to life. Families are our partners in this journey. We build trusting, respectful relationships with families and recognise their vital role in their children’s learning. We are also dedicated to engaging with our wider community — supporting local initiatives, connecting with community resources, and honouring the many cultures, past and present, that shape who we are.

Reconciliation Action Plan

Our goal for reconciliation is to create a socially just and equitable Australia free of racism. As an early learning centre, Waves understand that racism can have a negative influence on children's social and emotional well-being as well as cognitive development. We also recognise that combating racism necessitates a concerted and systematic effort to ensure that children, their families, and communities accept cultural diversity and respect for our First Nations peoples. Waves' ability to influence and educate current and future generations of Australians about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories propels our ambition now and in the future.

Waves Early Learning is dedicated to forming partnerships based on trust, respect, and acknowledgement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' rights. We respect and value the cultural insights gained via strong links between Waves Early Learning and the children, families, and communities with whom we collaborate. We continue to build and improve high-quality, culturally safe early learning experiences for all children on the basis of equity, integrity, and respect. Waves acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First Peoples and the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our early childhood services are provided.

Waves educators, children, and families will engage in reconciliation on a personal and professional level, creating settings that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social justice, equality, and equity. We are setting the groundwork for future generations to cherish and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and history as an important component of our common identity through this vision.
